5-Day Tanzania Safari
Ngorongoro Crater → Serengeti National Park → Tarangire National Park
Journeys through the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Zanzibar, planned with a local team and travelled at your own pace.
We are a safari company near Arusha, where the road into the northern parks begins. We plan private safaris and Kilimanjaro climbs, and our guides are Tanzanian.
Every trip starts as a conversation. You tell us when you can travel, who is coming and what you hope to see. We reply with a route, the camps and a full price, and we keep changing it until it fits.

Start from one of our itineraries or from a blank page. Tell us when you can travel and what you hope to see, and we will draft a route around it: parks, camps, drive times and a full price.
The parks and places our journeys visit most. Each page covers the seasons, the wildlife and how to get there.
Open grass plains, granite kopjes and the year-round movement of the wildebeest herds, from the Seronera River to the Mara.
No two days are the same, but most follow the light: out early, a slow middle of the day, out again for the evening glow.
Animals are busiest in the cool of the morning, so most days begin with a drive.
A Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, a window seat for everyone and your guide at the wheel.
A picnic in the park, sometimes on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, or a meal at the lodge.
The animals rest through the heat, and so do you. A village visit can take its place.
Out again as the heat goes out of the day, until the light turns gold.
Dinner at your lodge or camp. Keep a warm layer to hand: evenings can be cool.
Your guide shapes each day around the animals, the park and the season, so times move. Tell us if you would rather sleep in, stay out all day or add a walk.
Every trip we plan is private: your own vehicle, your own guide, your own pace. Routes, camps and length can all change.
Our guides are Tanzanian and know these parks and the people who live around them.
Game drives are in 4x4 Land Cruisers with a pop-up roof, and every passenger has a window seat.
You get a written proposal first. Your booking is confirmed only once the deposit is paid and every camp has confirmed.
What is happening in the places we travel this month. Wildlife follows the rain, so the timing shifts a little from year to year.
Every month, place by placeThe herds reach the northern Serengeti and cross the Mara River.
Mara River crossings: July, August, September, October
Water is scarce outside the park and animals gather along the Tarangire River.
Dry season: July, August, September, October
Migratory birds are present from October to April.
Migrant birds: January, February, March, April, October, November, December
The main climbing season: cold nights, clear mornings.
Dry season (mid-year): June, July, August, September, October
Most travellers on a Tanzania safari want to know about group size, children, vehicles, meals, luggage, money and tipping. Our safaris are private unless you choose a shared group, there is no age limit, and you travel in a Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof and a window seat each.
Pack light, neutral clothes in a soft bag of no more than 15 kg, a warm layer for cool evenings, a headlamp and binoculars. Leave plastic bags at home, because Tanzania bans them. Bring US dollars, euros or pounds in cash, your passport, insurance details and any vaccination certificates.
It depends on what you want to see. The herds calve on the southern Serengeti plains from January to March and cross the Mara River in the north from July to October, when Tarangire also fills with animals along its river. The Ngorongoro Crater holds wildlife all year. Kilimanjaro is best climbed from January to early March or from June to October.
Dates, who is travelling and what you hope to see. A rough idea is enough, and we will reply with ideas for your trip.
