Village and cultural visits
Mornings in a Maasai village, a class at a local primary school and lunch with a family in Mto wa Mbu.
Many of our safaris give a full day to the people who live alongside the parks.
A typical day
- A Maasai village early in the morning, as families start the day with their cattle.
- Lucas Mhina Primary School, where you sit in on classes and talk with teachers and pupils. There are no tests and no homework.
- Mto wa Mbu: a walk through the village with a local guide and lunch cooked by a family, who explain each dish and how it is made.
Other visits
Near Lake Eyasi, a local interpreter can introduce you to a Hadza community, one of the last groups in Africa living by hunting and gathering. On the last day of some journeys there is time to visit a school in Arusha and have lunch at the home of our founder, Lucas Mhina.
